the Secrets of Fate
Silence
respect for the boy’s words
somber consideration
finally a slight smile
Consider the river
the river moves forever
knowing only yesterday
never knowing what will be
Know this: Man is the river
moving into tomorrow
never knowing what will be
yet moving, bound to move always
Consider the mountain, my friend
the mountain stands forever
unmoving and unchanged
uncaring of tomorrow
Time swirls around the mountain
the mountain, enduring
looks upon time and smiles
knowing that time will come and go.
Know this: the wise Man
becomes the mountain
looking upon time and smiling
knowing that time will come and go
But the mountain
unchanged
endures
forever
