Rebellion dies at midnight
Or in the small and quiet time before dawn
Before the alarm
Has the chance to interrupt
And two hands reach for one more nine minutes.
Lips engaged with yours
Cannot frame the words of
The Declaration of Independence.
Fists clinched in rage and defiance
Relax into a lover's touch
Guided by another hand.
A heart half out the door
Turns back
And shamelessly begs for one more dawn.
A leg pulled over a silken body
Cannot guide feet to the door.
The rebellion is not thwarted, the war not ended
Just put on hold
Pending just one more dawn and one more final kiss.

Again
Moving on
Because things that should change
Don't
And things that should remain the same
Change
Moving on
Just because
Because it's time
And maybe to fulfill a name

Because....
Because we have danced
in small and unexpected places
Because I have loved
against all reason
Because I have read your words
and written some of them
But most of all
Because...
Because I have seen your midnight tears
shed for another
And now I own you and I will love you
just because......
just because.......

Realities
Diamonds
glinting
on moving waters
Sun's
last rays
slanting
Diamonds?
My reality
Influenced
by scientists
your reality
never gathered diamonds

Do you assume...?
Do you assume that I still love you, that I think of you often when I search my silly, disastrous life for moments of joy? Do you think that I see your face...and more...when I remember the times when I was happiest? Are you so sure that yours is still the name I breathe when I think of love that goes beyond all reality?
You know me as no one else ever has...or, I suspect, ever will.
